TIME: EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY COLLOTYPE PRINTS

                                                 
In conjunction with our ongoing exhibition, “Time: Exhibition of Contemporary Collotype Prints,” Project Basho is hosting an accompanying lecture on collotype by James Hajicek. The lecture which is open to public will be held this Friday, April 11th at 6:45 pm at Project Basho Gallery.
 
James Hajicek is a professor at The School of Art at Arizona State University. His area of interest is late 19th century photographic printing processes. He leads the 19th-century photo processes program, teaches classes in photogravure and collotype, and has extensively researched both collotype and woodburytype printing processes.

The gallery will also be open this Thursday evening as a part of 2nd Thursday Gallery Openings in the area. The exhibition of contemporary collotypes features 21 prints of photographs by Emmet Gowin, Eikoh Hosoe, Graciela Iturbide, Koichiro Kurita, John Pfahl, Ryuji Taira, George Tice, and Arthur Tress. They are monochromatic as well as full color printed on handmade Japanese Gampi paper. The exhibition runs through April 27th.
 
For this traveling exhibition of the collotype prints in the US, Benrido has created a one-of-a-kind, beautifully hand-crafted, limited edition portfolio which consists of sixteen collotype prints from eight prominent fine art photographers. An accompanying essay by James Enyeart, the former Director of George Eastman House is also included. At the lecture, this portfolio as well as other collotype portfolios that Benrido has created will be on display.
