He developed a unique methodology that utilized the extra-large-format contact prints cropped (sometimes dramatically) to evoke the sweeping horizons he saw in nature. He was a landscape photographer in the broadest sense: he photographed the spaces—both rural and urban—that we inhabit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The retrospective "American Horizons: The Photographs of Art Sinsabaugh," organized by the Indiana University Art Museum, represents the first complete survey of the artist's career ever assembled. It includes over eighty-five photographs, with the majority drawn from the Art Sinsabaugh Archive at Indiana University, Bloomington. The retrospective is accompanied by the long-awaited monograph on the artist, written by Keith F. He began at M.I.T. as an apprentice to Minor White, the legendary photographer and educator. John was Professor of Art and Coordinator of Photography at the University of Delaware, where he established his own record for excellence as both a maker of expressive images and as an educator. Project Basho is hosting an accompanying lecture on collotype by James Hajicek. The lecture which is open to public will be held this Friday, April 11th at 6:45 pm at Project Basho Gallery.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span"  style="font-family:'trebuchet ms';"&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;James Hajicek is a professor at The School of Art at Arizona State University. His area of interest is late 19th century photographic printing processes. They are monochromatic as well as full color printed on handmade Japanese Gampi paper. Also, the prize-winning photographers will be chosen for an exhibition at the photography gallery of The University of the Arts, Philadelphia.  Awards include a Microtek ArtixScan M1 Dual Media Scanner ($650), SilverFast HDR Studio digital camera RAW conversion software from LaserSoft Imaging ($499), a Lensbaby 3G Lens and Wide Angle / Telephoto Kit ($359), a $250 gift certificate from Calumet Photographic, a $250 gift certificate for Museo Fine Art Paper, Lowepro camera bags ($200 and $100), two $50 gift certificates from Sprint Systems, and $250 in cash prizes.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Because their work was seen in The Photo Review, past winners have been given one-person exhibitions, have had their work reproduced in other leading photography magazines, and have sold their work to collectors throughout the country.  An entry fee of $30 for up to three prints or slides, and $5 each for up to two additional prints or slides, entitles all entrants to a copy of the catalogue.
